Want a ban on wearing the burqa in the Netherlands

The Government of the Netherlands voted in favor of the introduction of a formal ban on the wearing of the burqa in public places.
The ban will also apply to any other clothing and accessories that cover the face, such as a motorcycle helmet.

Cabinet no doubt that the document will be endorsed by parliament. If this happensthe Netherlands will become the third European country after France and Belgium in which to prohibit the wearing of the burqa.

Those who ventured to appear veiled in public transport, hospital, school or otherbuilding will be fined 380 euros.

The prohibition does not apply to people who dress in costumes and masks duringnational holidays.

The exact number of women wearing the burqa in the Netherlands is not clear. But Muslims in the Netherlands are about 1 million out of 16.7 million living in low land.
