Asteroid as a bus passed by Earth

An asteroid as big as a bus passed close to Earth, astronomers from the MinorPlanet Center American who follows these celestial objects in the solar system. It happened at 15 pm on Griunich (17 am Bulgarian. Time) on Friday.

The asteroid, called 2012 BX34, had a diameter between 6 and 19 meters, saidcenter director Gareth Williams.

He said the object was discovered only after they approached Earth. He appeared suddenly in sight of the telescope in Alaska and approached nearly 60,000 km toour planet.

According to astronomer collision was avoided "by a thread." This puts 2012 BX34in the top 20 of asteroids crossing the closest distance from Earth.
